Graduation Project
Being a very passionate and obsessive person, I have always been fascinated with the concept of Devotion. How it manifests and what kind of subjects people are drawn to, and what they do to express their love of religion, music groups, people or food. My graduate project for my bachelor of Communication Design at Monash University was focused on the concept of devotion. I chose Print as a medium to base my work, creating a 120 page book with a research component and personal component. To frame my findings I created a bathtub shrine dedicated to the subject of my own devotion; the britpop band Pulp. The frontman Jarvis Cocker is the face of the book, who I deified piously in my teen years and who I now still ardently admire in a more humanised way. As he himself sings, "I am not Jesus, though I have the same initials."
